Setting up an IMAP connection in Outlook Express:

1. Open Outlook Express.
|
|
2. If the 'Outlook Express' dialog box appears, stating that Outlook Express is not your default mail client, do one of the following:
|
- To make Outlook Express the default mail client, click 'Yes'.
- To leave the current mail client the default one, click 'No'.
|
|
3. Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Accounts...'. (The 'Internet Accounts' dialog box appears.)

4. Click the 'Mail' tab.
|
|
5. # Click 'Add', and select 'Mail...'. (A wizard appears.)
|

|
6. In the 'Display name' box, type your name, and click 'Next'.
|
| |
|
|
| |
|
7. In the 'E-mail address' box, type your e-mail address, and click 'Next'.
|

|
|
| |
|
8. In the 'My incoming mail server is a' drop-down list box, select 'IMAP'.
|

| |

9. In the 'Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server' box, type mail.okstate.edu
|
|
10. In the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server' box, type smtp.okstate.edu, click 'Next'.
|
|
11. In the 'Account name' box, type your first.last@okstate.edu email address.
|
|
12. In the 'Password' box, type your account password.
|
|
13. (Optional) If you would like to type your account user name and password every time you check your mail, clear the 'Remember password' check box.

14. Click 'Next', and click 'Finish'. (The 'Internet Accounts' dialog box reappears.)
|

15. Highlight the mail account you have just created and click 'Properties'.
|
|
16. The properties window appears, click the 'Servers Tab'. In the Outgoing Mail Server section, put a check mark in the box labeled ‘My server requires authentication’. Click the Settings button and confirm that the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.

17. Click ‘OK’
|
|
18. Click ‘Close’ on the internet accounts window.
|
|
19. When you are prompted to download the existing message folders from the mail server, click 'Yes'.
|

|
20. Click 'OK' on the Show/Hide IMAP folders window, your OSU E-Mail account setup is now complete. Then either restart Outlook Express or select the Send/Receive button to have the e-mail delivered from the server.
