A DMZ (short for Demilitarized Zone) is a special network that typically contains web servers and related systems intended to be accessible via the World Wide Web. Having a DMZ defined allows for increased security in other areas of the network and is an established part of industry best practices. Over the next year, Information Technology will begin transitioning its server operations to this approach.

Most groups are now in place. VPN is now required for administrative access to most systems in the Data Center has been finalized. Telecommunications continues to coordinate the implementation of additional firewall rules with IT System Administrators.
