Residential Life Printing |

Overview
|
| |
|
Printing is one of the reasons students frequent the computer labs across campus. In December 2004, the Residential Life IT Committee proposed an increase in the printing capabilities offered to students in residential life areas. This proposal was taken to the University Technology Services Fee (UTSF) committee in Spring 2005, and was approved as a Fiscal Year 2005 UTSF project. The scope of the project includes installing black and white printers at the main offices of several residential life complexes, along with print metering software to manage print jobs and monitor usage.

During an initial pilot test, printing will be free. After the initial trial period, we will revisit the usage and determine an appropriate fee structure to cover the paper & printer maintenance costs.

As of April 21st, testing is proceeding with the second product, and we are learning more about this system to compare it against the first one. We are implementing the communications plan with flyers in the mailboxes of three residential life areas. Over 12 pages of students have tested the software during the initial trial.
