Telecommunications is currently testing and implementing voice over IP (VoIP) trunks between the OSU branch campuses. This new technology will dramatically decrease departmental long-distance rates at branch institutions and save the entire OSU System thousands of dollars per month.

Project Status

As of August 4, all calls between OSU Stillwater, OSU-Tulsa and OSU-OKC are going out using the new Voice Over IP system, OSU-OKC calls are being sent through their PBX system, and we have initial functionality for outbound calls to the Oklahoma Office of State Finance. The next step is to send OSU-Okmulgee calls through their PBX system.

While you will still dial the same 10-digit number as you always have from the OSU Stillwater and OSU-OKC campuses, calls originating from the OSU-Tulsa campus will need to first dial access code 203 followed by the 10-digit number. Fax machine transmissions are not successful over the VOIP route, and may require re-routing. People who are having trouble faxing between the campuses should notify the IT Telephone trouble desk (405-744-7174) to request fax re-routing.
