Hardware requirements: All Novell file servers considered for installation into the Okstate NDS tree which will hold at least one replica of an NDS partition will have at least these minimum requirements (these requirements must be met by machines being upgraded from Netware 4.x to Netware 5.x as well):
512MB of RAM
2048MB disk space allocated for SYS volume use
at least one Pentium III 500 or better processor
Bootable CD-ROM (preferred)
10/100 MB Ethernet NIC
All Novell file servers considered for installation into the Okstate NDS tree not holding a replica of an NDS partition will have at least these minimum requirements (these requirements must be met by machines being upgraded from Netware 4.x to Netware 5.x as well):
256MB of RAM
2048MB disk space allocated for SYS volume use
at least one Pentium Pro 200 or better processor
Bootable CD-ROM (preferred)
10/100 MB Ethernet NIC
Machines purchased for use as a Novell file server will have received the "Novell Tested and Approved" certification from Novell Labs and will be built for use as a "file server" and not a "workstation". One of the following three brands of server should be used when possible, (Compaq, Dell or IBM). Generic or off-brand servers or workstation will not be acceptable.
Each department owning their own Novell file server in the Okstate NDS tree will maintain on staff at least one employee with a minimum of a CNA (Certified Netware Administrator) certification from Novell for Netware 4.x or 5.x.
