Data used to populate user data in Computing & Information Services(CIS) systems is pulled from two authoritative sources: Human Resources System(HRS) for employees and Student Information System (SIS) for students. These two systems contain the information needed to insure that people who are using university computing systems are associated with the university. CIS pulls this information in automated procedures to expedite propogation to the computing systems and to facilitate user id management. Due to the number of systems maintained by CIS and the automation of user id managment, CIS will not modify the names of individuals on systems. Since these two systems are the authoritative sources, CIS' position is that the name pulled is the name to be used.
