Printers in the Okstate NDS tree

*Note: Information Technology Policies are in the process of
review and will be updated throughout the year*

All new printers set up for use in the Okstate NDS tree will be set up as NDPS (Netware Directory Print Services) printers to use the IP protocol.

Printer name should be made up of these components:
Building & Room Number-Printer Make and Model
for example:
ms113-xrxdcs230
ms113-hp5simx

When requesting a BOOTP address for the printer, the host name of the printer and the name of the printer in the NDS tree should be the same.

Printers currently setup as legacy based printers (they have a print server, printer, and print queue) should be converted to NDPS printers no later than 12/31/2000.

NDPS printers should be placed in the same container in the tree as the clients who will be it's primary users.

For departments with Netware 4.x or Netware 5 servers that don't have an NDPS manager installed, a departmental NDPS printer manager has been setup for their use. It's located in the .DEPT NDPS.RESOURCES.OKSTATE container of the Okstate tree.
