Server Rotation and Testing Enviroment
| |
The viability of hardware used in production is paramount to a high level of user satisfaction. Having ample equipment to test operating system and/or application software upgrades is equally important. A test network that mirrors the production network will give the OSU/A&M System a proper way to test changes and a line of defense for system uptime. Each server used in production mode should be replaced on a three-year rotation plan. Servers rotated out of the production environment will be placed into the testing environment when possible.

This project also supports the OSU Portal. Details for the portal are given below. Information Technology has estimated that expenditures of approximately $150,000 will be needed for new and replacement servers for FY06. UTSF will fund $75,000.
