Disk Storage and Enhanced Backup Capabilities

Exchange Mail
| |
Quotas for student email services were increased from 45Mb to 250 Mb. The use of this service has increased exponentially, which will require additional storage to support the new users. New technology will also be deployed to assist with backups and data recovery on email services. Disk storage will be needed to snap (copy) the data from production to another location for backup and data recovery purposes.

Windows File/Print Services
| |
Students have been allocated 500 Mb of home drive space for file storage. The current infrastructure supports 10% usage of the maximum designation. The use of this service has increased and additional storage will be needed to support 30% usage of the maximum allocations.

BlackBoard and WebCT
| |
New versions of BlackBoard and WebCT will be implemented during summer 2005. Faculty members have increased their use of online learning resources. Additional disk storage is needed to support these services. Faculty members are relying on the system to keep grade information. To ensure the ability to recover data, disk storage will be used to copy the data from production to another area for backup services and disaster recovery. This will provide several layers of protection.
