I am out of the country or somewhere without cell phone service – how can I authenticate into my account?
Even if you are located somewhere without cellular data on your mobile device, you can still use the Duo Mobile application with the Duo Push authentication method.

If you do not currently have Duo Mobile installed or activated on your device, your identity will need to be verified. After your identity is verified, you can then be provided a bypass code which will allow you to log into duo.okstate.edu and add your device to the Duo Portal. You will need to be connected to a wireless network (wi-fi) in order to download the Duo Mobile Application onto your device and to use the Duo Push authentication method. Instructions for adding a device to your portal can be found here: Multi-Factor Authentication | Oklahoma State University (okstate.edu)

OSU IT also provide Duo Hardware Tokens (FOBs) which can be used to authenticate through MFA. The Hardware FOB is small enough to fit on a keychain. In order to use the Hardware FOB, when prompted to authenticate through MFA, you will select the Hardware Token option, click the power button the Hardware Token, and enter the numerical digits provided on the FOB into the MFA prompt. Again, before a FOB can be provided to you, your identity must be verified.
OSU IT provides a few different options to verify your identity:
-
-
Contact the IT Helpdesk at 405-744-4357 to verify your Phone Password/Challenge Secret over the phone or by requesting a video call to verify your identity.
-
Open a web browser (such as Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc.) and fill out an Identify Verification Form (IVF).
-
Online Form (If you fill the Online For out, select the Add Hardware Token (Fob) to Multifactor Authentication Account under the Reason for Verification, and provide the number on the back of the Hardware Token in the Additional Information field.) A ticket will automatically be generated for you.
