Overview

You can add devices to your account by authenticating to the MFA Portal using your O-Key credentials. Once you have authenticated, you will be prompted to verify or setup your account. You can then add a new landline device.

  1. Open a web browser (such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, etc.) and visit the MFA Portal.

  2. Once the page loads, you can verify the site is authentic by checking the site's Extended Validation (EV) certificate.

  3. Login using your O-Key login address (example: pistol.pete@okstate.edu) and O-Key password.

  4. After you have authenticated successfully:

    1. If this is the first time you have authenticated to the MFA portal and\or do not have any devices setup, the text Protect Your Oklahoma State University Account should appear across the top of the page. Click the Start Setup button.

    2. If you already have devices setup in the MFA Portal, you will be presented with a Device drop down box with a list of authentication methods to verify your account.

      1. Choose a device to send an authorization code.

      2. Select the authentication method (such as Call Me, Enter a Passcode, Send Me a Push, etc.). OSU IT recommends to use Duo Push when available.

      3. Complete authorization on the device and method selected.

  5. Once you have verified the authentication by the selected method, you will be presented with the MFA Portal page.

  6. Click the Add another device link below the list of devices. You may have to authorize your login again if you have other devices setup on your account.

  7. On the next page titled What type of device you are adding, select the Landline device type from the list of options.

  8. Click Continue.

  9. On the next page, select the country (such as United States) where the phone number resides from the drop down box towards the top of the page.

  10. In the field below the country drop down box, enter the landline phone number (including area code) that authorization codes will be sent.

  11. Please Note: the last five digits of your OSU phone number (example: 44357) is not considered a phone extension when setting up MFA.  The Extension field  does not need to contain a value when setting up a landline in MFA.

  12. After you have typed in the phone number information in the text box(s), check the box to the left of the formatted version of the phone number that is correct. Please Note: If you are presented with a page asking you to verify the landline number you entered, MFA already has the number specified in the database.

  13. Click Continue.

  14. The next page should display the added device under the My Settings & Devices heading. Below the list of devices, you can change the default device that will be used by MFA as well as how MFA will send authorization codes to your device.

    1. Please Note: If you set the When I login drop down box to "Automatically call this device" you will receive a phone call each time you attempt to authenticate to a protected system. There is an option when logging into protected systems that will remember your login and authorize for thirty (30) days. To check the Remember option, you will need to click the Cancel button in the blue bar across the bottom of the page and then check the option when authenticating.

  15. When you are finished configuring the new mobile device on the My Settings & Devices page, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button.

  16. The Save button text should change to Saved when the changes have been applied to your account. You can now close the browser tab\window or click the Add another device link below the list of devices on the My Settings & Devices page.

OSU IT recommends that you setup more than one device (Cell Phone, Landline, Tablet, etc.) to allow for added flexibility when attaining an authorization push, call, or passcode.
