Respondus LockDown Browser
The Respondus LockDown Browser (RLB) is a specialized browser used for limiting the online testing environment.
Details
The purpose of limiting the online testing environment is to help prevent students taking shortcuts to find answers. Students using the Respondus Lockdown Browser to take a quiz or exam are unable to capture screen content, go to other internet pages, copy pages, use messaging, or any other program on the computer while the test is active.
Getting Started
Students

Install the Respondus Lockdown Browser.

For Windows and Mac – Download Lockdown Browser

For Google Chromebook:

Log into the Chromebook and start the Chrome browser

Log into Canvas using a student account, and navigate to the exam that requires LockDown Browser.

Select the link for downloading and installing LockDown Browser.

From the Chrome web store, select "Add to Chrome" to install the LockDown Browser Extension
NOTE: If you have technical questions, please open a support ticket at https://support.respondus.com/. Be sure to indicate your question relates to LockDown Browser for Chromebook.

When you go to take a quiz that requires Respondus, go to the link that got set up on the Desktop (PC users) or in Applications on a Mac computer when you installed the application. Navigate to your quiz and it will open.
NOTE: If your instructor requires you to use the Respondus Lockdown Browser, you will have to access quiz by opening Respondus from your Desktop. Otherwise, the quiz will not open. If Respondus is not required, take the quiz with the browser you normally use.
